Whole-Home Battery Backup for Northern Virginia Homes
The reason most homeowners call us about the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel is simple: they want the house to keep running when the grid does not. Paired with EcoFlow’s DELTA Pro Ultra — which delivers up to 7.2kW of output per unit with expandable battery capacity — the Smart Home Panel turns your electrical system into a whole-home battery backup: when utility power drops, your selected circuits switch to battery power automatically, fast enough that refrigerators, Wi-Fi, and most electronics never notice.
That matters more in Northern Virginia than in most places. Our region’s grid is absorbing historic demand growth from the world’s largest data-center corridor at the same time summer storm lines, ice events, and the occasional derecho keep testing the lines in Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, and Arlington counties. A battery system covers the outages — and unlike a standby generator, it also works for you the other 364 days a year, managing loads, storing cheap or solar energy, and running quietly with no fuel and minimal maintenance.
Every installation is performed by our licensed electricians (VA Master #2710064102, VA Contractor #2705160838), permitted and inspected — requirements vary by jurisdiction, and we handle the filing and inspection scheduling in every county and city we serve. Do I need solar panels for battery backup to work?
No. The batteries charge from the grid and back up your home on their own. Solar is optional — it adds the ability to recharge during extended outages and store your own production, and it can be added later without redoing the installation.
Can it really run the whole house?
It can be sized to. Many homeowners instead back up essentials — refrigeration, HVAC, well pump, internet, lighting — for longer runtime. The Smart Home Panel’s circuit-level control makes either strategy work, and you can change priorities from the app at any time.
How is this better than a standby generator?
No fuel, no noise, no exercise cycles, faster switchover — and year-round value through load management. Generators still hold the edge for indefinite runtime in very long outages, unless the battery system recharges from solar, which narrows that gap considerably.
Is the installation permitted and inspected?
Yes. Panel interconnection and energy storage work is permitted and inspected, with specifics that vary by county and city in Northern Virginia. We pull the permit and manage the inspection as part of every project — call (703) 915-5351 for a free assessment.
Installing a DELTA Pro Ultra? The smart panel is only half the system. Our guide to EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra installation covers the feeder, the supply-side breaker, how many circuits you actually get backed up, and what the permit looks like in your county.
